Two equine stars clash in the Diamond Stakes on Saturday… JUICE MAN VS GENERAL JN

21

The awaited clash between two new equine stars will come off on Saturday October 26 at Santa Rosa Park, Arima in the Caribbean Champion Stakes over 1,800 metres.
Jamaican-bred Juice Man winner of the prestigious Trinidad Derby General JN, both unbeaten so far this year, will be among nine West Indian-bred horses 3 Y.O & Over.
Juice Man has won four consecutive races since coming to Trinidad from Jamaica earlier this year while General JN has also chalked up four victories this year.
The winner of the event will be the overwhelming favourite for Champion Horse of the Year 2019 title in next year’s annual Jetsam Awards ceremony.
There are at least three other entrants who can upset the two favourites – Apocalypse, who was second to Juice Man in the Derby, and Master of War, who was narrowly beaten by General JN over 1350 metres in the Diamond Stakes on Derby Day (September 24).
Regal Intension, which won the Guineas earlier this year and failed to live up to expectation in the Midsummer Classic and Derby, is expected to put on a better performance now that he may again race without a tongue-tie.
Apocalypse is capable of upsetting the applecart judging from his second-place finish in the Derby. He would prefer a firm surface.
The consistent filly Streaking Far is also one to note in the event. Making Headlines who ran third to Juice Man in the Derby can earn a place but will be no match for the two favourites.
Juice Man has won his last four starts since coming from Jamaica and appeared to have taken a likeness to the main track at Santa Rosa Park.
Owner Kanta Persad has said that Juice Man appears to prefer Soca to Reggae.
